Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Zokie desktop app and the website zokie.dev (together, the “Service”). “Zokie”, “we” and “us” mean Rahul Kulkarni, who builds and operates Zokie. By downloading, installing or using Zokie, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Zokie.

1. Access and use

Zokie is available by invite. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install the Zokie app on Macs you own or control and to use it for personal or commercial software development.

You agree not to:

  • sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app, or share invite builds with people we have not invited;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
  • remove or change any copyright, trademark or other notices;
  • use Zokie to break the law, infringe others’ rights, or build malware or other harmful software;
  • use Zokie in a way that breaks the terms of the services it connects to.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to use Zokie. If you use Zokie for a company or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for it, and “you” includes that organisation.

3. Accounts and third-party credentials

You create a Zokie account by signing up with GitHub or Google, and you are responsible for keeping that account secure. Separately, the app runs tools you install and sign in to yourself, such as Claude Code, Codex and the GitHub CLI, using your own accounts and subscriptions. You are responsible for those accounts, their credentials, and everything done with them through Zokie.

4. Fees

Zokie is free for now. Charges from the services you connect, such as Anthropic or OpenAI usage and subscriptions, are yours and are billed by those providers. The spend figures Zokie shows are estimates from what those tools report and are not a bill. If we ever introduce paid plans, we will tell you in advance, and fees will apply only if you choose a paid plan.

5. AI agents act on your machine

Zokie is built to let AI coding agents work for you. Depending on the permission mode you choose, agents can read and write files, run commands in a terminal, create branches and commits, push to remote repositories, and open or merge pull requests. The default mode lets agents act without asking first.

You are responsible for:

  • choosing the permission mode and which repositories you attach to a task;
  • reviewing what agents produce before you ship it, merge it or rely on it;
  • keeping backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.

AI output can be wrong, insecure, incomplete, or similar to other people’s code. It is not professional advice. You decide what to keep and what ships.

6. Ownership and licences

Your content. As between you and us, you own your code, prompts, files and the output agents produce for you. Zokie does not send your content to us, and we claim no rights in it. The providers you connect may have their own terms about inputs and outputs.

Our property. The Zokie app, the website, the Zokie name and the cube logo belong to us and are protected by law. These Terms do not give you any right to use our name or logo.

Feedback. If you send ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Zokie without owing you anything.

7. Third-party services

Zokie works with services we do not control, including Anthropic (Claude Code), OpenAI (Codex), GitHub and the Python Package Index. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, cost or conduct.

8. Communications

By signing up for an invite or writing to us, you agree that we may email you about your invite, important changes to Zokie, and these Terms. You can ask us to stop at any time, except for messages we must send by law.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Zokie changes. We will update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will give notice before they take effect. If you keep using Zokie after the changes take effect, you accept the new Terms.

10. Termination

You can stop using Zokie at any time by uninstalling the app and deleting the ~/.zokie folder. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or if we stop offering Zokie. Sections that by their nature should continue, including ownership, disclaimers, limits on liability and dispute terms, survive termination.

11. Changes to the Service

Zokie is early software. We may add, change or remove features, release updates, or stop offering Zokie. The app checks GitHub Releases for new versions and offers them to you; you choose when to update.

13. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. In short, the app keeps your work on your Mac and has no analytics or telemetry.

14. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you will defend and indemnify us against claims, losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your use of Zokie, the code and content you create or ship with it, or your breach of these Terms or of the terms of services you connect.

15. Disclaimer of warranties

ZOKIE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ZOKIE OR ANY OUTPUT FROM AI AGENTS WILL BE ACCURATE, SECURE, ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT IT WILL NOT CHANGE OR DELETE FILES. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE EXCLUSIONS, SO SOME OF THEM MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

16. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, CODE, PROFITS, REVENUE OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO ZOKIE, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO ZOKIE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR ZOKIE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US$100).

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law rules. Before starting any formal proceeding, please email xhanthis5@gmail.com so we can try to resolve the issue informally within 30 days. If we cannot, the courts of competent jurisdiction in India will have exclusive jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.

18. Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Zokie. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
